Dr. Christoph Brandenburg

Dr. Christoph Brandenburg, lawyer specialising in German public law in Munich

Lawyer specialising in German public law in Munich. Twenty years of legal practice since 1997, ten of them as a partner at an international business law firm, followed by around ten years as a managing director in the real estate industry — I know both sides of the table. I have run my own law firm since 2026.

My field is the relationship between the state and private actors. Where the state decides on investments, I guide developers, investors and the public sector through land-use planning, permit procedures and plan approval (Planfeststellung). Where it disproportionately interferes with fundamental rights, I defend companies and private individuals. Both concern the same subject matter: the exercise of public authority and private freedom.

Whoever retains me works with me — not with a team in the background. Most disputes can be resolved through negotiation — more quickly and sustainably than in court. If that is not enough, I conduct the proceedings with determination, through all instances if necessary.

Earlier positions: SKW Schwarz Rechtsanwälte (2002–2005), Deutsche Bahn AG / Aurelis Real Estate (1999–2002). In parallel, from 2002 to 2013, advising DAX companies and banks on restructuring their legal departments together with the consultancy Otto Henning & Company, Frankfurt am Main.
